Have you ever met a dog that doesn’t like peanut butter? Probably not! Not only is it a great way to sneak medication or fill interactive toys, it is nutritious too. It supplies protein and healthy fats to our furry friends. So it is a great choice for making extra special treats for our dogs!

While we love the benefits of peanut butter, we want to make sure you choose the right peanut butter. Some peanut butters contain xylitol which is dangerous for dogs. So be sure to check the product label.

And if you have peanut allergies in your household you can use sunbutter in its place!

So here are some recipes for peanut butter dog treats to indulge your dog!

Homemade Peanut Butter Recipe

Yup, that’s right! This recipe is for those that want to go that extra mile. This way you can control all of the ingredients that your dog is getting.  This recipe from Dog Treat Kitchen includes healthy ingredients like ground flax and coconut oil. You can even substitute the nut you want to butter. Just a warning: do not use macadamia nuts as they are toxic to dogs. Walnuts and brazil nuts can cause digestive upset.

All Natural Peanut Butter Dog Treats

Feel confident when your dog enjoys these baked snacks with only a few simple ingredients. This recipe from Simply Being Mommy only has 4 ingredients, and one is cinnamon which can help support healthy digestion. Use these adorable cookie cutters to customize the size of your treats.

Peanut Butter Gummies

Made with peanut butter and gelatin, they are great for putting into enrichment toys like the Planet Dog Snooks and Nooks. This recipe from Dream A Little Bigger can be made in a casserole dish and cut to size, or pour them in these cute silicone molds for cooling and you will end up with the cutest little paw print treats!

Elvis Peanut Butter & Banana Sandwich Dog Treat Recipe

Is your dog the king of your house? Treat him like royalty by making him (or her) a sandwich made for THE King. Inspired by Elvis Presley’s favorite sandwich, this recipe from Dog Tipper recreates the class with a few healthy swaps. The recipe does call for Elvis’ preferred oil: bacon grease. The author suggests swapping out for another oil. While most dogs would come running for bacon, consider coconut or olive oil.

Peanut Butter Cement

Do you have a dog that can empty out toys stuffed with peanut butter in no time? Peanut Butter Cement takes regular peanut butter and makes it more challenging. Take equal parts peanut butter and flour. Melt the peanut butter on the stove on low, and slowly add the flour. Pour it into an all-natural cow hoof and let it harden in the freezer. Then let your dog enjoy it when you are relaxing together. As with any chew, you will want to supervise while your dog relishes their chew after it has been cooked up a notch.

And lastly, enjoy!

If you are like us, it is rewarding to see our dogs enjoy the special things we make just for them. Be sure to post pictures of your dogs enjoying these treats on your social media and tag us in it!

If your dog has not had peanut butter before, you will want to give them a small amount first to make sure it agrees with them. While most dogs do fine with it, every dog is different.
